Teatro Sarmiento (Theater)

The Sarmiento Theater, located in the heart of Tuluá, is a place with an important historical reputation and also the cultural heritage of the region. Its history goes back to the year 1915, when a successful merchant, Mr. Jesús Sarmiento, decided to invest in the downtown area of Tuluá. Thus, one of the projects that was favored was this one. However, the theater was not initially raised for the purpose of constituting itself as such. The building that was carried out was intended to house commercial premises on the first floor and the second to be used as a hotel. Subsequently, the place began to be used for other purposes and it was not until the death of Mr. Sarmiento that it officially became a theater, and not just any, but the most acclaimed in the city.

The architecture of the theater was inspired by the Paris Opera House, which gives it a European and very picturesque style. In addition, it has lateral balconies that exalt its beauty even more; any tourist will be impressed by such a luxurious facade. In addition to this, the theater has been, for more than a hundred years, the stage for world-class artists and has hosted important personalities of the country. Here have been presented cinematographic works, declamations, circus acts and others, which have marked many generations and, thanks to this, has cultivated an excellent reputation.

How to get there?

The Sarmiento theater is located in Tuluá municipality, on Calle 27 with Carrera 23. By car, the shortest route is taking the Cali-Palmira highway, continuing the trip through El Cerrito, Guacarí, Buga and San Pedro municipalities, then you will find Tuluá.
