In Ricaurte, a township of Bolívar, is located the Divino Ecce Homo Sanctuary. It is known nationally and internationally for the miracles that the beautiful image of "El Divino" has fulfilled to the parishioners. In the 18th century, the merchant Rafael Urriago, native from Ricaurte, found on the shore of a river in de department of Chocó a table that caught his attention. It had an image that looked like a saint. When he returned from his trip to his town, he presented the image to his aunt and it was considered authentic and sanctified by the Archbishop of Cali, Monsignor Luis Adriano Díaz in 1928. After a short time, the table was transferred to a straw house in the center of Bolivar and then, the image was taken to the sanctuary of ‘El Divino Ecce Homo’.
It is so much its recognition that in 1986 the population of Ricaurte was reflected in the literary novel 'El Divino' written by the colombian author Gustavo Álvarez Gardeazábal. In 1987 the novel was taken to television.
