"The Biennial is a trip to discover new worlds and also to be discovered and seduced by new movements, lenguages and imaginaries to think about dancing as a way to express our emotions" says Amparo Sinisterra de Carvajar, president of the 2nd Biennial.
This is the Pacific festival, in which the most importat thing is to highlight the gastronomy, the folk music and the traditions of this region in Valle del Cauca. It is an awesome experience for the locals and of course for the visitors who want to dive into this culture.
This is one of the most important and traditional festivals in Colombia. In which the favorite attractions are the "Salsódromo", the "Cali viejo" carnival, the antique cars parade, the "Melómanos" meeting, the "Superconcierto" a really nice musical show, between other shows ans events.
Piedra del Sol, located in Vijes municipality, is a gigantic monolith in which an indigenous hieroglyph is carved. Around this place there are several hypotheses: it is believed that the rock functioned as a pagan altar, others argue that the pre-Colombian writings that lie on it translate a message derived from Spanish harassment in pre-Colombian era. In short, this is a very attractive tourist site, especially for archaeologists, scientists and tourists who are anxious to know the relics of the past that this municipality has. In addition, this place along with other destinations in the region as the Vuelta de los Ataúdes and Charco Oscuro (among others), which are located really close to each other, demarcate a tourist route like no other, full of history, nature, serenity and fun.
How to get there?
The Piedra del Sol is located in La Pedrera, 20 minutes from the municipal seat of Vijes. To get there by car, the shortest route is taking the Cali-Yumbo highway, continuing the trip on the Yumbo-Vijes road, passing through Mulaló municipality, followed is Vijes. By public transport, from the Cali transport terminal, you can board the Trans Yumbo line to this municipality.
