Jardín Botánico Juan María Céspedes (Botanical Garden)

The charm of the Juan María Céspedes Botanical Garden of Tuluá is unique, since it houses a variety of fauna and flora that will leave you astonished. This is the most biodiverse ecological corner that Valle del Cauca has. Any tourist with a desire to enjoy a fresh air and admire the different facets that nature has to offer will not hesitate to visit this place. One of the reasons is that the Botanical Garden is full of plants and animals that do not inhabit anywhere else in the world.

This Garden was founded in 1948 and years later it became part of the renowned “Instituto Vallecaucano de Investigaciones Científicas”, INCIVA. Its name was given in honor of the scientist and independence hero Juan María Céspedes, who was born in Tuluá, same municipality where the Garden is located.

Located in the foothills of the central mountain range, this place covers 154 hectares of natural forest and is an area for conservation of natural resources, flora and fauna of Valle del Cauca. Currently, the Garden offers its visitors: educational programs of environmental education and conservation of natural resources, ecological trails, camping area and cabins for lodging in front of the Tuluá River. Also, it allows its visitors to practice extreme sports (rapelling and rafting) in the La Arenosa waterfall and the Tuluá River. In addition, this space has an Ethnobotanical Museum and the largest bamboo and guadua seedbed in Latin America.

How to get there?

The Botanical Garden is located in Mateguadua, part of Tuluá municipality, at 7 kilometers from the municipal capital. The Garden is located just behind the Simón Bolívar Police School. If you need to take a bus, from the transport terminal of Cali, Lineas del Valle, Expreso Palmira, Coopetrans Tuluá, Coopetrans Trujillo, and Cooperativa Palmira companies, offers lines to Tuluá.
